Complete guide to using GPT Image 2.6

GPT Image 2.6: generation and editing

Flare is the faster option; Sunburst focuses on detail and edit consistency. Both support 1K, 2K and 4K. Economy offers fixed-price 1K PNG output.

API usage

POST /v1/images/generations with model, prompt and optional parameters. For editing, pass input_urls. The gateway waits for completion and returns data[].url and usage; no upstream callback or polling is required.

GIF limits

Flare / Sunburst documentation conflicts on GIF frame counts and SVG support. We expose their agreed frame_count values auto/4/9/16; Economy text-to-image also supports 25/36/64. frame_duration_ms accepts integers 20–2000, rounded upstream to 10 ms. GIF applies only to text-to-image. SVG is not offered.

Flare / Sunburst: actual consumption × markup, rounded up to whole credits. Resolution and content affect token usage; this is not a fixed price per image.
